Traveling across the region by regional train, you’ll visit the world-renowned markets of Salzburg, Nuremberg and Munich, as well as discover Chiemsee with its unique Christmas market on the famous Fraueninsel (island of our lady).
Your seven-night stay in 3*/4* hotels¹, includes a hearty breakfast each morning as well as all transportation² (regional train, taxi, boat, Christmas tram), entrance via the funicular to the Fortress in Salzburg. There will be three historical walking tours too, one in each city.
Most evenings a dinner reservation will be made, however this is optional as it is not included in the package.
Spaces are limited to 8 people, ensuring you are well looked after during your time in Bavaria and Salzburg.

Itinerary: No itinerary planned for today, arrival day.

Munich
Itinerary: Our day starts with a short tram ride to Sendlinger Tor, where our 45-minute historical walking tour of the Munich old town begins. Thereafter, you will have the opportunity to do some shopping, grab a spot of lunch or maybe relax with a coffee. Bier and Glühwein (Mulled Wine) will also be readily available.
Mid-afternoon will commence with a festive tram ride through the city.
As daylight starts to fade, it’ll time to enjoy some of Munich’s finest and most famous Christmas markets.
All within a 20-minute walk of each other we will visit the Christmas markets at Sendlinger Tor, Rindermarkt, Marienplatz (town hall and the city’s Christmas tree), Residenz (Courtyard market) and Wittelsbacherplatz (Medieval market).
Not only will you be able to enjoy a varied selection of food and drink, you may also find the perfect festive gift for loved ones.

Munich-Prien am Chiemsee-Herreninsel-Fraueninsel-Prien am Chiemsee
Itinerary: A short (1 hour) regional train ride from Munich Central Station to Prien station, plus a quick taxi to our hotel, where we drop off our luggage and take the boat (2 mins walk) to Herreninsel (and King Ludwig’s Palace). Thereafter, and as the Bavarian sun sets, we sail over to Fraueninsel (Christmas market).

Prien am Chiemsee-Salzburg
Itinerary: After taking a taxi back to Prien station, we will once again use the regional train, to Salzburg (1 hour), taxi to our centrally located accommodation.
After check-in there will be a short historical walking tour of the city, including a funicular ride up to the Fortress (which also has a Christmas market).
Returning to the centre of town, we turn our attention to the spectacular Christmas markets and at 5:30pm be prepared to be entertained (and maybe a little scared) by the St. Nikolaus & Krampus March.
You are then free to explore the markets some more, or have dinner at the famous Sternbräu (a 5-minute walk from our accommodation), which comes highly recommended!

Salzburg-Nuremberg (via Munich)
Itinerary: After breakfast you are free to explore the city a little before an early afternoon departure (taxi to Salzburg Central Station, and regional train back to Munich – 2 hours – and on to Nuremberg – 75 mins).
Our hotel in the Franconian capital is a 3-minute walk from the station, giving us time to check-in, before we head out into the Christmas markets in the old town.
You are welcome to feast on the delicacies available to you at the markets, or join us for dinner at Tucher-Bräu am Opernhaus.

Itinerary: No travel today, just the opportunity to learn more about the old town (walking tour), with the option thereafter to visit the Memorium Nuremberg Trials, and/or walk the Nuremberg Rally Grounds.

Nuremberg-Munich
Itinerary: Returning to Munich after breakfast, we will spend the afternoon and evening discovering some of Munich’s less centrally located Christmas markets, including Haidhansen, Tollwood and Winterrausch im Hexenhaus.
A final dinner will be arranged, but again as with all evening meals, this is optional.

Munich (end of tour)
Itinerary: The tour ends after breakfast.
