Ian & the Oktoberfest: Over a quarter of a century and counting!
Ever since my first trip to the Wiesn in 1997, I have been hooked and I have been to every Oktoberfest since (except for the two Covid hit years, when it was cancelled).
The Oktoberfest was one of the factors that played a part in my move to Germany. I resided in Munich and Bavaria from 1998-2010, when I then headed west to Karlsruhe until 2015.
Although I am now back in my native England I have been hosting tables since 2008, with guests from all over Germany, Europe and the world.
Having studied German at school I was well equipped for life in Deutschland and my proficiency in the language has since helped me to build good relationships with several of the tent owners and those who manage the reservations.
